WILLASTON ALPACA

Partnering with Clare, the owner of two beautiful Huacaya Alpaca’s that live on the local land here in Willaston. Sergio and Seve have been sheared carefully for warmer temperatures to create fibres for our new collection.

We are proud to be able to trace back our fibres right to the source and to be on a first-name basis with these amazing creatures in our local village.

Sergio’s light natural fibres will work perfectly blended with our natural Willaston wool to create a softer hand feel. Whereas, Seve’s strong black fibres are going to be blended with our local Willaston black fleece.

Alpacas are from the camelid family, yielding hollow-core fibres that make soft and insulating textiles. Their strength, hypo-allergenic thermal insulation properties are regarded as the finest and softest fibre in the world.

As we know since the demand for cheap cashmere has grown exponentially with damaging environmental effects, alpaca is often noted as a more sustainable fibre choice due to higher efficiency and lower impact on the land.

Ethical production is key, with companies such as Inca Tops and Loro Piana providing examples of best practice for both animals and communities.

Natural Fibre also prides themselves on being a British woollen mill who have traditional values similar to mali studios who source almost everything locally with organic processing accreditations and believe in creating things to last.

Our fibre is sent to be processed to the

Natural Fibre Company based in Cornwall to be spun and blended into worsted yarn ready for our exclusive, locally sourced released in 2020.
